Funke Bucknor Obruthe, A renowned Nigerian wedding & event planner, revealed details about Davido’s wedding and Chioma Ejiofor’s planning process.
According to Funke Bucknor Obruthe, In the year 2020, Davido saw her after a show & gave her the Davido’s wedding contract.
She said:
“In 2020, I met Davido & he had just finished performing. I was just outside with the crowd and David said to me ‘you are planning my wedding’ and this was in 2020. But as you know, after 2020, a few things happened, and life got in the way, they had to put a pause on the wedding planning.”
The event expert revealed that Davido contacted her again in 2024, asking her to anticipate a call from his sister, which led to discussions about his upcoming wedding to Chioma.
She further said:
“Fast forward to the year 2024, I got a message in my DM and I see it’s from Davido and he says ‘Aunty Funke, my sister is going to call you. I say ‘what is she gonna be calling me about?’ and he says ‘my wedding’ and this was in February and I was like yeahh!”

Nigerians had varied opinions on the couple’s wedding, which was held on June 25, 2024, and went viral online, with a few critics questioning the decoration choices, implying a lack of thorough planning.
Funke Bucknor further shared that she had previously planned Davido’s sister Coco’s wedding and was later contacted by Coco, Sharon (Davido’s other sister), and Jennifer (Chioma’s sister) to collaborate on planning the highly-anticipated biggest 2024 wedding.

Davido’s wedding sparked lively discussions among fans, with topics such as the choice of venue, the elaborate decorations, the massive guest list, and other details generating significant buzz.
Funke Bucknor discussed the difficulties in finding a venue and creating a guest list, stressing the importance of delivering a high level of service to the large number of guests, estimated to be around 3000
She also revealed that they had to get two halls with a connecting tunnel and also divided the timing.
